Showing posts from October, 2019

I've been unwilling to write this month though I am not sure why. Part of it I suppose is the change in weather and the fact that my hips picked this year to go bad on me. I spent the last half of September and 2/3 rds of October unable to walk without pain and needing my cane whenever I went out. Since I hate to use the cane that means I didn't get out much. The Professor stayed over for 10 days and we did a lot of things, (all of them fun), but I even had to beg off on a few of those after a couple of hours. It annoys the shit out of me. I am not happy with ageing right at the moment, oh I know it is a necessity but that doesn't make me like it any better. I have a few of projects on the go. I've reached the point where I can start testing layouts on the wall for the photo gallery. I have still not settled on a layout yet so I will experiment with some brown paper silhouettes this week. I've gone through and chosen a few photos for the wall. During the proce

Bucket List

I didn't make it to Starbucks but I did have a pumpkin Spice tea at Tim Hortons. Starbucks maybe later this week. I have priced a couple of Opal rings and will go back to Landsdown place to make my final decision tomorrow The Professor took me for a road trip yesterday and I got to see some of the colours but we were about a week late for the full show. Even so they are every bit as beautiful as I remember. I have been wearing orange nail polish for 5 days now mind it isn't a stark orange it is orange with gold highlights in it. It makes my nails look like the brightest Maple leaf you could imagine. Three more items to go and it isn't even mid-month yet! This is turning out to be a great month.

It's my Birthday

I wish I was one of those blogs that do printables I'd offer something to share as I start my 60th year. 59 used to seem so old but I don't feel old most days. Oh I have my share of days that I feel ancient but mostly I feel more like 40 than 59. My son turns 40 on the 9th, he is my baby, hard to get used to the fact that he is almost a middle-aged adult. Yesterday GD#1 turned 21 and tomorrow her brother GS#1 turns 11. The good news for me is that is it for birthdays until the end of the month. My Niece's birthday is on the 28th. The next birthday after that is not until December. GD#4 turns 4 sometime around the middle of that month.

Plus Size Appreciation

A long time ago I came across a term that these days would be considered derogatory. It was about what was considered a kink. The term was fatty lover and indicated men who prefer their women well padded. We have come a long way since then but still not far enough. Those of us with curvaceous figures are still spoken of in whispers though slowly we are becoming more mainstream as some of our members have become models and movie stars. This image back in 2015 sparked a lot of negative comments , I wonder if it would spark as many this year. Somehow I don't think so. In 2018 we had come a long way from there as this picture shows: This blog talks a lot about positive body image. The picture above is only one of many on the internet celebrating body love. And this year we actually had a beauty pageant ! So the next time someone says something to you about your size just look them in the eye and smile! Cause even if they don't know it you know you are beautifu

Frugal Fun

I do not leave my home very often. Mainly it is because I don't need to. I have family who will do my running around for me. I like it that way most of the time but there are some days that I just can't stay inside any more. On those days I always find a reason for going outside. Mainly I'll walk in the garden or sometimes to the corner store to get myself a treat but some times I'll walk to look at other peoples gardens or to look at the changing trees or nearby Christmas decorations. I take photos as I go so what I see is concrete not just in my head. The best part of this is that 1) it's free and 2) it's fun and 3) it's healthy. There are other things you can do that are free or nearly so as well. 1) Go to the library choose a couple of magazines you like and sit in one of the armchairs and read them 2) The library also hosts some hobby groups like a book club or knitting club that are free. The library sometimes even provides the books for the

Photo Gallery prt 2

So these are the frames I have. There is one more on the wall I can't get to that holds 20 cameos. I have 8 grandchildren and each will get their own frame. They will go in the 5 & 4 rectangle ones. I have only one picture of number 8 so I don't have a four for her yet. I figure the four oldest will get the 5's and the three younger ones the 4's The biggest frame will hold a group picture of as many of them as I can get in one place at one time and will probably form the centre of the wall. The four that hold cameos I have not decided exactly what I'm going to do with them but I suspect they will be divided by his families & her families plus one of my birth family and one for the professor & I It is possible I will have to replace one of the 5's because it has a broken corner but I am not sure yet and the cameo one in the bottom right is in pretty bad shape. As it is to be a full wall I am also thinking about adding the family crest &

Autumn Leaves

The leaves have begun to change here. Soon a trip into the country will reward us with a beautiful view as the leaves turn red & gold. I am an Autumn Child & I love the colours of this time of year!

Random Acts of Poetry

Had a hard time deciding what to call this. Writing Wednesday and Wordy Wednesday have interesting sounds but don't really go with random acts of poetry which is my subject for today. Guess I should tell you what that is hmmm. It is obviously a day out of checkiday but it touches my interest in poetry as well. Random acts of Poetry is just that, putting poetry in unexpected places for people to see and read. One of my favourite ways to do this was to put bits of poetry inside library books I had read before returning them. I don't borrow hard-cover or soft-cover books anymore. Everything I read is electronic either through Kindle or my local library. So I don't do that any more. I also spend very little time outside my home so I can't stick bits and pieces of poetry on signs and things. Spring William Shakespeare When daisies pied and violets blue And lady-smocks all silver-white And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue Do paint the meadows with
